Just few years’ back entertainment meant pay a visit to movie-hall or else just sit before the “Idiot Box” but today “web series” has perfectly changed the whole scenario. Web Series is very congruous to our modern society because today life is so fast that every-one of us finds it difficult to manage a colossal leisure for our’s own recreation rather seeks out for a short but fascinating media to relish. As the taste and demands of the new-age viewer changes, content providers are exploring new ways to deliver original programmes specific to the digital audiences. From this very stand point Web series plays a classic role to individuals.
Web series was emerged in the year 1988 and surprisingly within a short period it has been noted hugely entire the world forum. Another platform Amazon Prime member spent $1,300 a year on Amazon compared to $1,000 for all US Amazon customers, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, a firm that regularly surveys Americans on their Amazon buying habits. Amazon reported all-around strong results today, with profit that more than doubled estimates ($1.9 billion, compared to the $909 million analysts surveyed by FactSet expected), and revenue of $60.5 billion, slightly more than the $60 billion that was expected. The stock was up 6% in after-hours trading.
As per research, by 2022 there will be 56 million Amazon Prime Video subscribers alone in the U.S., and 122 million worldwide. Within four years it’s projected that Amazon Prime Video will grow its customer base globally to 122 million subscribers, with 45.9% from the U.S. alone.
Audience engagement is a constant focus for emerging and established web series creators. To that end, social media was a significant tool for audience interaction and promotion in 2013, as presented in the figure below.

There is certainly no doubt that since long in the arena of visual entertainment cinema has been playing a dominating role but now days the monopoly of film has already been challenged by Web Series though there are an enormous and so many fundamental differences between these two. Both Cinema and Web Series have their own essence of acceptance and both are indifferent in their ways of providing amusement. The fact is that they are not adversary to each other rather they are supplementary to each other.
